
Introduction
The Ramos V85 is second Bluetooth portable media player offered by Ramos. It has a high sensitivity 2.8 ‘’ QVGA TFT touch screen with 320*240 resolutions. It has the ability to play WMA, WAV, OFF, AVI and WMV audio and video files apart from MP3 files. It supports JPG, BMP and GIF image formats. It allows you to read TXT file. It is possible for you to read and listen at the same time. It does have a built in speaker, 2.0 USB and 3.5mm headphone jack. Audio and FM recording are with high quality. Apart from built in capacity, it allows the use of a Micro SD memory card up to 2GB. With Bluetooth, it is so convenient to transfer any files and documents from other devices. It is just a small palm fitting with your hand.
Design:
The design of Ramos V85 is simple. It is just like a small palm fitting with your hand. It is black in color. The material is Aluminium. There are only On/Off button and Hold button on the left hand side. Micro SD plot is on the top. HeadPhone jack and USB are on the bottom side, the whole layout is very logical.
Screen:
The screen is 2.8-inch QVGA LCD touch screen with 320*240 resolutions and an aspect ratio of 4:3. The size is almost the smallest among all Ramos portable media players. The screen is wide and with high sensitivity. Video playback function is good.It supports full screen AVI / WMV video playback.
Bluetooth:
Bluetooth is one of the key features of Ramos V85. You can always power on Bluetooth and transfer files from and to other devices in high speed. It is absolutely convenient and user-friendly.
User Interface:
There are two buttons on the right hand side including the Hold Button and power On/Off Button. The buttons are of good design, no worries of them being loose or easily breaking. On the top is Micro SD plot. On the bottom side is headphone jack and USB plot.
The GUI:
The GUI is text based, and very simple to use -came in chinese and I had no problems finding the setting for English. The main menu has nine functions: Music, Video, Photo, E-Book, Record, Other function (This leads to the stop watch and calender), Media Libary, the settings as well as Bluetooth.
Audio:
Audio formats supported are: MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG. Synchronize lyric mode is simple and easy to use. It has a very excellent audio playback, much better than I had expected, has built in EQ with: MSEQ, manual setting, Normal, Rock, Pop, Classic, Bass, and Jazz. Does have multiple playlists, play by: artist, Album, Title, or even make a ‘favorites’ list.
Video:
The Ramos V85 supports AVI/WMV video files playback without any problems. The 2.8 inch wide screen format has excellent video resolution, and no lip sync problems of any kind. During playback if a button is pressed it does show the time and current position in the video - after a few seconds, that all disappears and leaves you with an unobstructed view of the video/movie.
Photos:
It handles JPG/BMP/GIF images and it displays them as a list, which you can then: rotate left/right, Zoom in/out, Or put into a slide show. You can enjoy pictures with high quality.
Other Features:
Radio:
FM Radio with 76-108 MHz frequency level. Does have FM recording function. You can save your favorite channels any time.
Voice Recording:
Record in either low or high quality settings in WAV format. It also supports FM recording.
Text Viewing:
Supports files in TXT format and does have bookmarking so that you can return to where you last left off. Font can be changed in size to make viewing easier, color of the text can be changed and the background / format can also be changed to the users preference.
Accessories:
Items included with the player: USB cable for charging and connecting to a PC, Ramos Headphones, and the user manual -that is in Chinese. The headphones are the ear ‘bud’ style and they sound very good with this player.
Conclusion:
Overall, I was most impressed with the high sensitivity touch screen as well as the speedy Bluetooth. Its audio sound quality and also the video playback were very good. The simple yet easy to use interface make this player very user friendly. The solid case design and button lay out are also very easy to use and it fits very nicely in the palm of your hand. I would recommend this to most people, keeping in mind it’s ease of use - and more toward first time.
